چکیده

Background There is increasing interest in blood-based metabolic biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Studies show consistently that at branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) and a large scale of lipids are changed patients with AD. Little known how these metabolites associate to age, genes apolipoprotein E (APOE). This study aims over the lifespan determine influence sex APOE. Method We conducted this UK Biobank, prospective cohort 459,227 subjects extensive genotypic phenotypic data. Using Nightingale nuclear magnetic resonance technology, 249 (165 directly measured 84 derived measures) have been determined blood 118,071 participants. used mixed-effect models effect APOE on metabolite levels adjust lifestyle factors medication. Results APOE*4 major determinant total 216 platform using FDR < 0.05. find 41 were also associated dementia population 60+ years old. Also, APOE*2 226 (FDR<0.05) including metabolites. Concerning gender differences, significant differences found Overall, we interaction between age^2 valine BCAA. When stratifying gender, most concentrations remain stable age men. For acids, observed decreased concentration level me. females, increase reaching plateau around 55 Conclusion shows AD by In women, women up until menopause.

Exercise, APOE genotype, and the evolution of the human lifespan.

Humans have exceptionally long lifespans compared with other mammals. However, our longevity evolved when our ancestors had two copies of the apolipoprotein E (APOE) ɛ4 allele, a genotype that leads to a high risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD), cardiovascular disease, and increased mortality. How did human aging evolve within this genetic constraint? Drawing from neuroscience, anthropology, and b...

Mitochondrial metabolites extend lifespan

Disruption of mitochondrial respiration in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans can extend lifespan. We previously showed that long-lived respiratory mutants generate elevated amounts of α-ketoacids. These compounds are structurally related to α-ketoglutarate, suggesting they may be biologically relevant. Here, we show that provision of several such metabolites to wild-type worms is sufficient t...

Investigation of Morphology of the Hyoid Bone According to Age and Gender With Multidetector Computarized Tomography

Introduction: In our study, we aimed 200 cases were evaluated for the length, width and angle of hyoid bone and its distance from certain anatomical structures. Methods: This study was perfomed retrospectively in 2010 - 2013 on 200 CT images. 3D volume rendering images of pure hyoid bone were created from the axial CT images in 1 mm slice thickness. In our study, 200 cases (94 female, 106 male...
